Exploring Transitions — A multi-disciplinary workshop

August 17 @ 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

$150.00
Join Vancouver artist Sharon Svec as we engage with the land and the changing seasons to explore the theme of transitions from many angles.

Through a multidisciplinary arts approach, workshop attendees will discuss transition, reflect on transition, plan an output based on their discussion/reflection, and execute the output. Participants will have the option to have a recorded live performance at the end of the session. This workshop will serve to support personal, as well as ecological transition, with a focus on seasons, cycles and natural patterns. Participants whose art-form requires specific tools/instruments will need to provide their own for this workshop. Please feel welcome to contact Sharon at sharon@smsvec.com for questions.

Please note:

This will be an all-day outdoor workshop, so please come prepared to be in the weather. We will provide light snacks, water, tea and coffee throughout the day, and will have a shade canopy and camp chairs as needed. Participants should pack a
lunch, water bottle, extra snacks,  a notebook and writing/drawing tool, and articles of interest with consideration to transition (whatever has meaning to you and makes you think creatively).

Please get in touch via email to arts@pnfarm.com if you have any accessibility needs that we need to be aware of, or if you would like to access a full or partial scholarship through the Spirit Lake Scholarship Fund. We would love to work with you to make all PN Farm Arts Initiative workshops as accessible as we can, so don’t be shy about getting in touch!

About your instructor:

Sharon is an artist with experience in design, textiles, communication, theater and dance. Born and raised in the wilds of Southern Illinois, she has a great affinity to the natural world. Sharon earned degrees in Visual Communication and Professional Media Practice from Southern Illinois University while side-hustling as a thespian, receptionist and cartographer. Some of her most favorite creative experiences include the direction of “Onryo of Refuse,” a butoh inspired performance in 2010, and having been invited to exhibit her tapestries at the European Roma Institute of Arts in Culture in Berlin (2023). She currently works in the fields of art and design.
